What was the inspiration behind your work/business?
My own path. I had a terrible experince with multiple recruiters when I started my carreer. Recruiters that had no idea of the roles they were pitching to me or industry expertise. So I wanted  to do things diffrently when I started my recruitment agency and give a much more personal and market guidanse to candidates and clients.  But my biggest motivator is connecting people to the right carreer opportunity . I eally enjoy meeting people and helping them achiving their carreer goals so my job is by far  natural to me. I feel very blessed to do a job that I deeply love everyday. 

What are you most excited about in your work/business?
The real source of motivation and excitement for me as a recruiter is the commitment that you must achieve your outcomes even when you don't feel like it. That's it. In other words, it's leading a disciplined life. If you want to achieve long-lasting change, then you must become more disciplined.  My other motivation is to make a difference in people’s lives, treating people not as a transaction but as a human being, connecting on a level where I am not only a recruiter but the person they want to come to when they are looking for their next opportunity or the one who with whom they celebrate their career victories.

What has been the most challenging thing about starting your work/business?
I faced multiple challenges along the way.  Firstly, working in a city and an industry that is testosterone-heavy forced me to develop a thicker skin that became much more resilient and confident throughout the years. Being an immigrant with an obvious strong Spanish accent and being born with dyslexia was also a challenge.  I struggled to fit in for a while, but I learned how to use my differences to connect a lot more with a diverse pool of people and dyslexia taught me to think outside the box early on in my life – in fact, it pushed me to make things happen in ways most ordinary people don’t even think of.  What I have learnt in my life is that the obstacles that have been there for you are there for your growth, for your improvement not only as a professional but to make you more humble and more empathic to others. They transpire to teach you that you can go through them and overcome them and help others that struggle like you did at some point.

What advice would you give to other women thinking about starting a work/business?
Take yourself seriously or others won't. Tell your personal story to add credibility to what you are currently doing and striving to do in the future. Proudly take a seat at the table, any table. Know you have something to offer that is unique. Know that you are not alone but also that you as an individual and on your own very valid merits and never forget to Be strong, work had and never ever give up!

Why did you enter the Women Changing the World Awards?
I was nominated for the corporate leadership award this year and felt extremely lucky to be nominated along side many other very powerful and inspiring women that are also working hard to make a difference.

What did you enjoy the most about being part of the awards?
I truly enjoy meeting multiple women leaders around the world on the event ceremony and connecting with them and their projects.

What surprised you most about the awards?
The event ceremony was a nice surpise! I had very little time to arrange my flight back to London to attend the awards ceremony but the location, food, and awards were really nice. We all had a great evening full of energy and wonderful women that came all around the world to be present on that special evening

What advice would you give to other women thinking about entering the awards?
Don't approach entering the awards just a as a woman in business but as a businessperson. Be professional , have a purpose and always strive for excellence, not perfection to keep others inspired with not only your work etic but your integrity as a person.

What has been the best thing about starting your own work/business?
Running a recruitment agency is hard at the best of times. From day-to-day admin tasks, to getting on with your job, the responsibilities can be overwhelming. Who would want this job, right? Well, you do, and with good reason too. You get to run your own gig, create your choice of working environment for yourself and your team, and you get the excitement that comes along with blazing your own trail. But most importantly you get to change people’s lives by them leveraging their careers. That’s the purpose that I have, as a recruiter and as a person, that is most fulfilling in my life up until now.

What’s happening next in your work/business?
We have been through many changes in the last couple of years. Growing the team was the first stage a while ago, then working mainly on specific RPO projects and later, for me, moving forward as a solopreneur just before the pandemic was the latest change. The future is uncertain but exciting too. I recently joined the Executive team for a recruitment company called Adams and Oliver and hope to lead and develop their New business partnerships. I have a passion working with international clients and would love to start getting more involved with mandates not only in the Americas and the UK but the EU and Switzerland. I try not to overthink too much about the future, I prefer to focus on the shorter-term goals and give my best in day to day. Life is unpredictable so we’d better give our best TODAY.

What are your big plans for the future?
I am now 42. My biggest priority is to have a work life balance. My mental health and fiscal strength are top of my list as well as spending quality time with my family and friends. I also prioritize time with good books, travel, listening to inspiring tacks and "me time", when I get time to recharge and connect with a more creative part of me – it’s then when I get my best ideas and solutions.

Work is on my priority list, it always has been, but it is way more important to have fun and share with the ones I love. I learned that you have to work hard but you must play a lot harder.
